Joan had to work overtime (加班) at the office today. She got home late, and she was hungry. When
she opened the fridge. She was not happy. There was nothing for dinner. Joan sat down and wrote a
shopping list. She needed some cabbages, a bottle of milk, a dozen (twelve) eggs, a kilo of tomatoes, some
carrots and a loaf of bread.
Joan ran out of the house and drove to the shop. When she got there. she was very disappointed (失望的).
There weren't any cabbages and eggs. There was no milk. There weren't any tomatoes or carrots, and there
wasn't any bread.
Joan was so tired and upset (心烦意乱的) that she didn't want to eat anything. She drove home, didn't
