    即行为动词,表示动作的动词。实义动词与系动词是相对的,能独立用作谓语。
    它分为及物动词和不及物动词两种:
    及物动词是指后面要求有直接宾语的动词;
    不及物动词指后面不需要跟宾语的动词。

I believe that the committee will consider our suggestion.
“How long can I keep the book ?”Harry asked.
Dr. Bethune set us a good example.
Crude oil contains many useful substances.

    Birds fly.
    It happened in June 1932.
    My watch stopped.
She spoke at the meeting yesterday evening.

    Shall I begin at once?
She began working as a librarian after she left school.
When did they leave Chicago?
They left last week.
    Wash your hands before meals.
Does this cloth wash well?

We arrived at the railway station at noon.
We reached the railway station at noon.)
Everybody listened to the lecture with great interest.
We all heard the lecture.)
Do they agree to the plan?

Our children are taught to serve the people wholeheartedly.

what, who, whose, whom, which, whatever, whichever, whoever, whomever
    what, which, whose还可作限定词。
Whose books are these on the desk?
What was the directional flow of U. S. territorial expansion?
What events led to most of the east of the Mississippi River becoming part of the United States?
    指 人: who, whom, whose
    指 物: what

Which girls do you like best?
What girls do you like best?

Who(m) did you meet on the street?
Who(m) are you taking the book to?
To whom did you speak on the campus?

For what do most people live and work?
    What are you looking for?

I can't make out what he is driving at.
Can you tell me whose is the blue shirt on the bed?
Much of what you say I agree with, but I cannot go all the way with you.

    1. 疑问代词有who, whom, whose, which和what, 都是用来构成疑问句的:
    Who is calling?
Whom do you want to speak to?
    Who did you mean?
Who are you talking about?
With whom did you come?
    (口语中说“Who did you come with?

    What’s your address?
    Whose is better?
Which of these is yours?
    What do you mean?
Which do you like better?
    Whose have you chosen?
    What’s her name?
    Whose is it?
What time does the train leave?
Which room shall we stay in?
    Whose passport is this?

here, there, home, upstairs, downstairs, anywhere, everywhere, nowhere, somewhere, abroad, elsewhere等。
above, below, down, up, out, in, across, back, along, over, round, around, away, near, off, on, inside, outside, past等。
在表示位置关系的副词中,有些副词也可用作介词(如:above, over, beyond, around, below, down, up, in, along, near, off, on, past等),在没有宾语时就是副词,有宾语时就是介词,如:
    Come in, please.

They sat around the table.
Let's go on with the work...(副词)
What subject will you speak on?

I remember having seen him somewhere.
Wuxia films are popular in China.
We had a meeting here yesterday.
He did the work carefully here yesterday.
He was born in 1940 in a small village at the foot of Mount Tai.

I must be off now.
We are behind in our plan.

    ①只做情态动词:must, can(could),may(might)……
    ③具有情态动词特征:have(had, has) to, used to
    注:mustn't代表强烈禁止 must表示主观,have to表示客观。
常用的有:can  may  could  must   have  use  .

    He could be here soon.
We can't carry the heavy box.
    I'm sorry I can't help you.

What have you been doing since?
I am afraid I must be going.
You may have read some account of the matter.

We used to grow beautiful roses.
I asked if he would come and repair my television set.
They need not have been punished so severely.
She dare not say what she thinks.
    Still,she needn't have run away.
Would you mind very much if I ask you to do something?
She told him he ought not to have done it.
You should have washed the wound.
    Well,you shouldn't be reading a novel.
Must I read books every day、
    No,you needn't

    must 和 have to 的区别:must 表示说话人的主观思想,have to 表示客观需要。
ought + to have done 句型。
ought not to have done 句型。
    6.will (would)决心,愿望。 would 为 will 的过去式,

    助动词主要有两类:基本助动词和情态助动词。
    基本助动词有三个:do,have和be;
情态助动词基本的有十四个:may, might; can, could; will, would; shall, should; must, need, dare, used to, ought to.had better 上述两类助动词的共同特征是,在协助主动词构成限定动词词组时,具有作用词的功能:
He didn't go and neither did she.
The meeting might not start until 5 o'clock.
    Must you leave right now?
Nowhere can he obtain any information about his sister.
Hardly had he arrived when she started complaining.
A: Who can solve this crossword puzzle?
    B: Tom can.
A: Shall I write to him?
    B: Yes, do.

    1.在肯定句中一般用must (一定),may(可能),might /can, could(也许,或许)。
(1)He must/may/might know the answer to this question?
(2)It is cold in the room. They must have turned off the heating.
    2. 否定句中用can’t / couldn’t(不可能), may not/might not (可能不)。
(1)It can’t/couldn’t be the headmaster. He has gone to America.
(2)He may not/might not know the scientist.
    3. 疑问句中用can/could (能……?)。
(1)Could he have finished the task?
(2)Can he be at home now?

    (1)She must / may / might / could arrive before 5.  5: 00 前她一定/可能/也许到。
(2)She must/may/might/could walk miles and miles among the hills without meeting anyone.
(1)He must / may / might / could be listening to the radio now.
    (2)He can’t ( couldn’t ) / may ( might ) not be at home at this time.
(3)Mr. Bush is on time for everything .How can ( could ) he be late for the opening ceremony ?
(1)It must / may / might / could have rained last night .The ground is wet.
(2)The door was locked. He can ( could ) not / may ( might ) not have been at home .
(3)Can / Could he have gotten the book?
(4)It’s seven o’clock. Jack should/ought to be here at any moment.
(5)She should / ought to have attended your birthday party, but she had to look  after her mother in hospital.
(6)Tom should not /ought not to have told me your secret, but he meant no harm.

He brought up his children strictly.
Something unexpected has turned up. (turn up=appear)
The barrel of gunpowder blew up.(不及物)火药桶爆炸了。
The soldiers blew up the bridge.(及物)士兵们把桥炸毁了。

    I don’t much care for television. (care for=like)

We must work hard to make up for lost time. (make up for=compensate)

    这类动词短语中的常见动词是have,take,give,make等,
    Let’s have another try. (have a try=v.try)

Keep an eye on the baby while I am out.

I know he is slow at understanding, but you have to be patient with him.

    <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />一、短语动词
(1)短语动词常常是两个词(一个动词+一个副词性小品)构成,如:wake up , get up ,turn out 等。

He turn on the radio .Bob turned out smiling.

He awoke late the following morning .

He woke up late the following morning .
