MacedoniaThe friendship and cooperation between-the People's Republic ofChina and the Republic of Macedonia enjoyed smooth growth in 2007with fruitful cooperation in a wide range of areas.The two countries maintained high-level contacts. At the invitation ofPresident Hu Jintao, President Branko Crvenkovski paid a state visit toChina on 4-9 December. During the visit, President Hu Jintao, NPCChairman Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao held talks and met withPresident Crvenkovski. In a frank and friendly atmosphere, the two sideshad in-depth exchange of views and reached broad agreement on furtherpromoting the friendship and cooperation between China and Macedoniaand major international and regional issues of common interest. During thevisit, the two presidents signed the Joint Statement Between the People'sRepublic of China and the Republic of Macedonia on Deepening MutuallyBeneficial Cooperative Relations. Macedonia reiterated its firmcommitment to the one China policy and its position of not establishingofficial relations in any form or conducting any official exchange withTaiwan. It also reiterated its opposition to the entry of Taiwan in anyinternational organization where statehood is a requirement and Taiwanindependence activities of any form including the referendum on joiningthe UN under the name Taiwan. The representatives of the two countriesalso signed the Agreement for Educational Cooperation Between theMinistry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the Ministryof Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia, the Protocol onAgriculture Cooperation Between the Ministry of Agriculture of thePeople's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry andWater Economy of the Republic of Macedonia and the Memorandum ofUnderstanding~~ on Sports Cooperation Between the General Administrationof Sports of the People's Republic of China and the Agency of Youth andSports of the Republic of Macedonia.
