    当前，大学生就业形势日趋严峻，求职竞争异常激烈。除了拥有扎实的专业
知识和技能外，英语水平正成为很多大学生求职、获得良好工作的首要条件。为
扩大大学生英语知识面，提高学习英语的积极性，特别是满足他们开口说英语和
实际交流的需要，为就业竞争做好充分准备，在交通部管理干部学院各级领导的
关怀和大力支持下，我们英语教研室的全体教师，基于多年的英语教学经验和体
会，精心编写了这本英语学习教材。
    英语教改“听 ”“说”先行，多年来已经成为国内诸多资深英语教育专家的共
识。该套教材以英语教改为宗旨，以其独特的编写风格、新颖的内容编排、原汁原
味的材料、真实的生活场景以及简明实用的背景知识，使学生易学易记，培养学生
全面的口语能力，包括叙述、对话、交谈、讨论、辩论等，使他们在短期内达到轻松
说英语的目的。本教材适用性强，既适合在校的不同年级的学生，也适用于水平
不一的英语自学者。
    本书经英籍教师Tori Waters-Wang认真审阅，由美藉教师John Gronseth和
Besty Gronseth完成了主要的录制工作，并提出了宝贵的修改意见。在此，对所
有关心、支持和帮助本书出版的同志们，表示衷心的感谢。同时，由于编者水平和
经验有限，本书可能有疏漏和不当之处，我们诚恳希望外语教育专家和使用本书
