插图:On the opening page of every unit in the Teacher's Edition, there is a list of the language skills and grammar points practiced in the unit. In addition, there is a list of objectives on each page of a lesson. When knowledge of a grammar rule is essential for the success of an activity, explanations and models of the structures are provided.At the higher elementary levels, where the processing of the language is more explicit, you may want your students to prepare personal grammar reference notebooks. These notebooks, which could be titled "Grammar Rules and Structures I Have Learned," should contain an explanation of each rule or structure and an original example illustrating the concept studied. Encourage the students to show their work to their classmates so that they may learn from each other. As an additional challenge, you may want the students to try tc write some of the grammar rules themselves, rather than copy them from a book. In this way, they will find they need to choose and work with English words in a context meaningful for them. This rule writing then becomes yet another opportunity for meaningful use of and experimentation with the language. If the grammar rules and structures are consistently recorded in these notebooks created and compiled by the students, they will have an invaluable study tool and a personalized reminder of what they have learned during their English course. This provides the students with a feeling of satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.
